Recording Noisy Analog Synths

Any Roland Juno 106 or Roland JX8P owners here?

These are great analog hybrid synths and they sound especially nice with the built in chorus. Owned 6 Juno 106's in my lifetime and just bought a JX8P yesteday and love it!

Only problem is, the chorus is noisy as all hell.

So I was curious to know, what do you folks who record such noisy analog synths do about it? I can think of a number of options:

1. Record without the nice chorus and then use a chorus plugin

2. Record with an analog chorus pedal/outboard effect

3. Record with the noise and then use a denoiser plugin

4. Record with the noise and use a notch EQ to take out as much of the noise as possible

I'd prefer to record with the nice onboard analog chorus which would mean options 3 and 4 are the ones I'm looking at, would be curious to know how others have handled this.

Sorry, no JX-8P but JX-10 (it's a bit cleaner, I know). First, I have to say that I rarely use the chorus - it tends to make everything sound samey - use detune to add meat to the sounds. I might use the slower '1' setting ('2' is swirly phaser hell :) to spread out pads a bit but otherwise the chorus stays off.

I'm using Adobe Audition noise removal tool with success so I'd recommend a combination of 1. and 3. to solve the problem. Analog chorus box is going to introduce some noise anyway so that'd only lessen the problem a bit. As for 4. - I haven't managed to achieve satisfying results trying to eq out the noise, but then again, I'm a recording newbie.

EDIT: Option 5: Just think of the noise as an effect :). I included a short clip of a wide chorused JX-10 stringpad with some additional noise (modulated by the LFO) thrown in for measure.

I've used a JX-8P for a lot of stuff in the past, and own a Juno 60.... I love the sounds, but yeah, some of them are noisy (the 60 cycle thing). Lately I've been using the Waves noise removal plugin to clean up some of the hum from the tracks. I like that more than EQing out the noise because it takes off less high end. Sometimes the chorus noise is OK, at least if it's a dense arrangement.

I have a Roland JX-8P and Jupiter 6. The noise stays. It's not a problem for me when it comes time to mix.

In fact I have even added some sampled noise floor from an SSL board in some ITB mixes. Sometimes things are just way to clean for me.

Yeah, the noise is perfect - adds some vibe and glue to the mix - I love vintage noise. I always sleep with pink or white noise in my headphones - helps me become a better person.
