Good Preamped signal to digital interface which already has its own preamps

I'm going to purchase a new 8 ch Preamp (LineAudio MP8) to make my live recordings. I have heard good things about it. I have to insert it between the mics and the Digi 002 interface which feeds my MacBookPro with Logic.
Now, I'm thinking that the first 4 input channels of Digi002, pass thru its own preamps (infact I saw on the block diagram that not only the xlr inputs, but also the line inputs go to the preamps), whereas the other 4 inputs (5 to 8) haven't preamps on their path..
In this way I realize that the first 4 channels of my recording will be preamped 2 times.....
I tried feeding channel 1 and then channel 5 with same source signal and it seems that with Digi channel 1 gain to the minimum I get same amount of signal of channel 5...
Can this mean that in this case input channel with preamp at minimum has similar behaviour of the preampless input?
Or is there a better way to manage my situation?

Tnx

What do ch. 1 -4 set to minimum gain sound like compared to ch. 5 - 8?

If you need all 8 channels for live tracking then you aren't going to have a lot of choice in the matter.

I tried feeding alternatively 1 and 5 ch with a violin, and it seems to me it's the same. I know it is quite and empirical way..

But my question is: supposing ch 1 at minimum and ch 5 give you the same signal, do you think 1-4 chs change in any case their signal (maybe imperceptibly) owing to their preamps?

If it sounds good, it is good. I feel like if you couldn't perceive a difference on a pair of decent monitors, then heck with it.

If I were me, I would still put the less important tracks through those first four channels though.

I do not know the 002 but it stands to reason that ch. 1-4 are affected. Keep testing otherwise someone has more info on that unit.

BTW, I'd be surprised if you get much of an answer at Sonik ... though it's possble.
