Bendeth Breaking Benjamin New Album

Want to see if I can get Ben to answer questions on this thread regarding the new album just listened to "I will not bow" ...love the production as usual.

-What is the vocal chain on this song? Main vox

-What is the bass chain?

-And amps and guitars used?

Yeah sounds nice (BB's myspace... can't wait to hear the non myspace non fubar'd quality version once it's out!). Wouldn't be surprised if some of those chains are the same or similar to Phobia. I think I like these guitars better

EDIT:
If that's a Musicman Stingray 5 that would make me very happy!

Also glad to hear that what I call "the BB sound", production wise, hasn't deviated too far from Phobia, which I knew would be tough to beat

Dan Korneff

I just wanted to say that Dan Korneff did some mixing ITB on this record and he did an amazing job. Check it out Sept 29.

Thanks for the Info!

Had already been considering trading my Stingray for a Sterling because I have small hands... so it'll be great to hear one in action on one of my favorite bands

EDIT:
Please note, the size of my hands has in no way any correlation to other parts of my body.

EDIT #2
Looks like I was misinformed that the Sterling was a shorter scale with thinner neck. Just checked the website... same scale and same nut width. Guess I'll keep the Stingray.

Dan I cant believe David threw you out there to us pack of wolves. Thanks for answering my questions.

When you get a chance can you tell us a little about some of the in the box plugs used on this record? Maybe just a few quick words on where you used plugs in the mix instead of hardware? :-)

Thanks Dan!

ps with the apex 460 mod I saw you put the name Rikki Begin but cant seem to locate him for the apex 460 mod....do you have any info on him still?

I tried to keep some sort of consistency between our mixes on the board and ITB by using software versions of the gear in our studio. Used a ton of waves SSL channel strips, Altiverb RMX16 verb, IK classic studio verbs, psp42 delays, Nuendo's "tonic" on my drum room mics.
As for outboard, I had a pair of LA-2s, 1176's, RM58, ssl fx384's
I gotta get another SA-39... just cant beat the sound of that huge ****er!
No need to find Rikki for your mod... do it yourself.

Thanks for all the information. Is there anything you can tell us about guitars? Any chance we could get the chain for those and any tips you might have for getting anywhere near that kind of character? Breaking Benjamin's guitars are the huge wall of guitars sound that's in a lot of modern rock but somehow seems to really stand out from the rest. It manages to sound saturated enough while still packing a punch and retaining excellent clarity while not being harsh. How? ¯\(°_o)/¯

Fairy dust

Because I had to get this cranked out I know we had many set ups on guitars. Like three . So I am going to check all of them first before I spew garbage.

Whenever you have time is awesome. I really do love this place sometimes. I came to this board looking for tips and pres trying to get/sound more like David a few years ago and to even have my presence acknowledged by the real deal is pretty damn cool.

Now to work my way up the ranks so I can weasel my way into a session with him sometime. Mark my words.. It'll happen. I won't tell him I'm Mesa from here till it's over though.

having dudes like this go on here is the only reason I still check these forums.

So Dan, tell me about these custom 1176's, they sound intriguing.

Amazing work. Look forward to hearing the whole album, and trying to guess which are the ITB.

Yeah his mixes are badass too. You seem to mesh well together.

This CD has been in constant rotation for me. I love it.

Any info on your choice of mics and/or placements for guitars? Take it easy.

No worries.

I laughed my ass off when that other dude said BB was emo.

I swear people are just spilling that shit out of their mouths these days without even thinking let alone actually listening to these "so called emo bands".
