Any ideas?

I was about beginning a Lynyrd Skynyrd project in my studio with my brother when I got a problem that stopped the whole thing. The thing is that I want to use my Roland A90-Ex digital piano with 88 weighted keys in order to record with more velocity control and get better dynamics on the recording. So peace of cake I thought, I only send out MIDI from my Roland A-90 to MIDI Port B Channel 1 on Yamaha Tyros and set up that channel to play part Right1. Then I transmit that part on MIDI Port A out to the MIDI interface and get MIDI in on MIDI port A on the Tyros configured for song ch 1 as the part. So the schema looks like this:

[Transmit]
Roland A-90 Ex
MIDI out ch 1
(I am playing on this keyboard when recording)
->
[Receive]
Yamaha Tyros
MIDI Port B in ch 1 (Right1 as part)
->
[Transmit]
Yamaha Tyros
MIDI Port A out ch 1 (Right1 as part)
->
[Receive]
DAW
MIDI Port 3 ch 1 (via MIDI interface)
->
[Transmit]
DAW
MIDI Port 3 ch 1 (via MIDI interface)
->
[Receive]
Yamaha Tyros
MIDI Port A in ch 1 (song as part)

What seems to be the problem is that what comes into the Tyros stops there, it doesn't transmit the signal further out on the MIDI out even thoug Right 1 is configured on the same MIDI channel on both ports. (I've even tried to only use Port A) I can see this in the MIDI transmit window in the Tyros where I notice the led is not blinking on the Right1-part ch1 when I press keys on the Roland A-90. To transmit I have to press keys on the Tyros. Shouldn't the MIDI signals automatically flow through the tyros when I route it like this?! I'm starting to believe this is an OS related bug in the Tyros...!

The OUT port only sends out what the midi-unit self generates. You're looking for the THRU port.

Hmm... The tyros doesn't have any through port...

Hmm.. Maybe I have to use the Roland A-90 so that it sends out directly on ch1 to the DAW and then I receive it to the Tyros from there, maybe I cannot make it run through the Tyros like I've tried... Hmm... I think this is the solution...!

Thanks!

The Tyros might have a software option 'Soft THRU', which will send on the IN data to it's OUT port.
