In a way its kind of comforting knowing he was still giging regularly at the Iridium right up until his death. Better than him being sick and not enjoying himself.

RIP
You will be missed.

Les Paul was the original Gearslut! Without him we wouldn't have multitrack recording and we wouldn't have the Stradivari of rock guitar.

Dang I always wanted to hear him at his weekly NY gig, waited too long. I guess he played up to the very end.

How can you even eulogize such a giant? Words fall short. Without Les Paul, there would be so little gear for the gearslutz. We would be playing our archtops miced into a wire recorder.

RIP, a legend passed away. Known by the guitars by most I guess, but we know better (History of multitrack recording - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Shocked, maan I wanted to see him playing live once, but -=denied=-

To think he got in a car accident and crushed his arm so bad they almost amputated it, the story goes his doctor was a fan and set the arm in a position Les could play guitar.

Chester & Lester (I've got that record) reunited at last stike

Agreed!
The shame of it will be that he will get a brief mention in the news ,but MJ will be in the news for months.
RIP hero to many.

the man was a genius. The solid body electric guitar, the multi-track tape recorder, tape delay and reverb are all things everyone in music uses today. Thank you Les Paul.

Les Paul pretty much invented the tools that spawned modern music. The electric guitar and multitrack recording.

It would be fair to say that no other single person has had as much impact on all things Gearslutz as Les Paul. That is the definition of a Visionary.
