Hi-end maracas advice needed ;)

I'd like to buy a few. Checked ada local store and all 5 or 6 had very cheap feel to them and didn't sound good to me. I'll have to order online, I guess. What are your favourite hi-end maracas? Size, material, any info. Thanx!

I'm guessing this isn't a joke, but I happen to dig the black, LP maracas. To me, they sound the best. But, there are others that sound great too, just different. It's going to be nearly impossible to describe the differences in sound between these and the yellow plastic ones, the skin ones, etc. Different material inside sounds different too. Heck, I've even found where those cheap, wooden ones from mexican flea markets sound the best for a situation. Better yet, a few shaker toys that my 1yr old daughter has sound great.
later,

Shouldn't this be in the Hi-End Forum?

Very easy to roll your own. Get creative with a can and some dried peas or beans.

Chicken shakes (eggs) are also great.
