Digi Pro Tools LE 003 Basic Rack vs Rack Factory vs Complete Rack version

Ok, I thought it would be good to start a thread with a graph/list of the basic differences between Digidesign's Pro Tools LE/003

Basic Rack vs Rack Factory vs Rack Complete

SEE THE ATTACHED PDF of the graph I made>>>>>>>>>>>>

For prices we'll use Sweetwater:

BASIC RACK

RACK FACTORY

RACK COMPLETE

I thought this comparison thread would be good for those wanting to begin Pro Tools (as I am).........

THOUGHTS!!?!?!?....................

So are the Production ToolKit & 003 Factory Plug-In Bundle an absolute "must-have" for a Pro Tools set up?

Plus you get the "AIR Multi Delay" in all 3 packages but an extra Delay in the Rack Factory & Complete...is that negligible?

I personally don't think the production tool kit is a must have at all.. espeically now that PT8 is out with an increased track count.. that is unless you will really be tracking great big mixes.. even then you can just print stems if you you run out of tracks.. the only other advantage really to me is that you can bounce to mp3, unless you want surround mixing and a handfull of VI's that you probably wont use..so to me.. skip that.. and the extra reverb doesn't constitute spending the extra dough either..

If I were you I would get the basic rack.. or you could look at the 003 factory Digidesign 003 Factory | Sweetwater.com This costs less than the rack complete and you get way more out of your extra dough.. I actually own one.. I love it.. BUT.. I would still just get the basic rack if I didn't really need the control surface. Good luck!

Thanks for you response. Yeah, I'd rather use my Roland delays & Eventide effects anyway...of course I'll need for I/O. Anyone else have an opinion on comparing the Basic & the Complete racks?

It's time to get rid of that junk, right?
No one is forcing you to buy it. Shouldn't you be busy doing things with YOUR DAW of choice instead of complaining about one which apparently does not suit your needs?

Quit being a dick and posting rants in EVERY Protools thread. Your only annoying people. Go hit a wall or something. Mellow out with this crusade of yours.
No one here really cares what you think about DIGI.

dfegad on your stupidity

A little late maybe, but since the pissing monkey brought the thread back and you never got your question answered, here's my take:

Don't buy any of the packs for the plug-ins. The most basic plug-ins will get you around and if you don't like them you can buy better ones from others. Instead, concentrate on the features. Do you need the extra tracks and added functionality of the CPT? If so, then there's no discussion. If not, then there's not much discussion either

The hardware features are worth mentioning as well. The 003 control surface is - for the money - good, better than something like the Command 8. I haven't given the Euphonix Artist Series a decent run yet (only tweaked them a bit on shows) but it appears they can actually do stuff that the Digi ones can't. On the other hand, the build quality is not to my liking, and unless they've fixed their software (which they might have, might I add!) its a buggy mess. Do you need to be portable? You can carry the 003 with you, but if it was me, I'd rather carry the rack and leave the control surface at home. You don't need to be portable? Well, then you get a pretty decent package in the 003.

That's my take on it. As you can see it very much boils down to your needs. Just make sure you don't pay for stuff you won't use.
