New unmixed recordings of a client who plays violin and sings.

So I'm working on a record with a client named Tobie Milford,

Tobie plays violin and sings live, with a dub station, a delay pedal and a vintage boss octave pedal. He'll pluck his violin like a banjo...or pitch shift it to seem like a bass guitar, play and record sections...then start playing his own harmonies. He'll turn into five or six intruments before the end of the song and sing the whole time.

This link goes to the takes...which were all live...first take senarios. The first five songs on his myspace are what we tracked...anything else was done by another engineer.

We're going to go back into the studio and track more like this....and we've been videotaping his sessions to loop his audio to...so we can have YouTube videos to prove it's not a hoax, this is in fact one guy, live.

These are the raw tracks with a bit of verb / delay...and just a little compression after the fact in the box. No real mixing yet.

Four tracks...the mics I used were as follows:

Soundelux E49 on vocals.

Crowley and Tripp El Diablo, Senn 421 and Shure SM57 on Violin.

All the pres are Neve 1272's...the only compressors are Chandler Germanium comps.

I'd very much like to hear what people have to think...I had a ball recording / co-producing these tracks and plan to continue working with Tobie for as long as he'll have me.

My main question is...would you guys listen to a record of music like this for fun? I just love his music. It'd be nice to know that I nailed a vibe too...but I'm hoping to help him get somewhere with this stuff.

I swear he's worth the listen.

Plus I'd love to talk about the sonics of this.

(Just a very unique session)
