Studio Management - how do you do it? Hours / tracksheets ect

I was wondering if anyone cares to give me a rundown of how they organise their studio sessions from a timekeeping / billing / engineer organising point of view?

I am just overhauling the procedures here, there are a few things I think could be improved:

* Engineer needs to be booked alongside studio booking (we use MRBS computer software)
* Need a studio log for engineer to write in hours worked
* Need to look again at our Studio Session Sheets and what they are used for (at the moment, everything!)
* Need to figure out tracksheets for the digital age!

If anyone cares to post their tracksheets / session sheets / or just let me know how you do it, would be MUCH appreciated!

Thx

Can't anyone help? Sorry to beg / hastle, but any titbit of info is really going to help. How does everyone do 'tracksheets' these days (for DAW), for example?

Or is this the wrong place to ask?

Cheers largeunit, you are a scholar and a gentleman!

Anyone else use any other methods or have any other documentation available?

Yep, this is the best program since sliced bread-
It's mac tho...

we use it for two rooms and about 4 different AE's, totally customizable , mail's out and tracks invoices, and makes reports of individual projects.

Best investment in the last year for me- I use it for gigs, sessions, supplies, everything.

I use Studio Suite from Altermedia. Works in OSX and needs Filemaker. Does a great job.

Make the clients initialize the in and out times (even on 'off the clock' breaks)...it will save billing arguments later (which always used to happened to us).

If you would like, I could e-mail you a pdf of track/mix/transfer sheets. I can't find the link at the moment.....wasn't there a program for palm pilots where you could upload all the info onto your computer?

Thanks GPl - I have PM'd you... I think you may be able to even post the files right here on the board in these formats:

aif aiff bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg mp3 mp4a pdf png psd sd2 sit txt wav wmv zip

Thanks to everyone so far... loads of information. that apogee prog is interesting, but has it died? Seems a shame that we have to reinvent the wheel evertime one of us has to set up a studio with the usual paperwork and organisation... this should be a cool open source program! That works perfectly!!

And I should be a millionare...

Is anyone (on the PC side or otherwise) using Quick Books to track accounts & invoices?

Tracksheets and the like are way too easy to create & customise in a spreadsheet program, I'm not sure why anyone would bother to make their own.
