guitar cab

right, i recently tracked an EP and we use a dual rec through a bogner cab that i borrowed it was a 4x12. and i loved the sound...problem is i can't afford a 4x12 - it is my dual rec. i also own a randall as well.

i've found these two which i COULD afford, obviously if the smaller one would suffice i'd prefer that (pockets tight!)

Bogner 112 Cube Closed Ported Cab (GUITARGUITAR) - 1x12

Bogner 212 Closed Back Cab (GUITARGUITAR) - 2x12

any input would be brilliant.

if anyone wants to chime in another cab to consider that'd be brilliant - i'm just starting to delve into my guitar equipment after getting all other angles covered, and i'm not a guitarist at heart so i'm wanting much input!

Duuuuude, if you're looking for good cabinets with an inexpensive price tag check out Vader Cabs. The Eminence V12 legends they stock it with are prolly one of my favorite guitar speakers. Also, Veretone makes great cabinets to spec, for an awesome price!

That being said, I'd go with the bogner 2x12, specificly because I prefer their closed backs to their ported cabs.

Also, make sure the impedence of the cabs will be good with the impendence of your head (but you probably already knew that, right?)

I would recommend trying to cab first, but if you really like the Bogner sound then I'm sure you'll be happy with it. I only say that because I bought an Orange 212 and I absolutely love it, but it does not have the same character that a 412 has. So, just a heads up, it won't be identical, but you'll probably still love it.

Another option, since you asked, is Avatar cabs. They're much cheaper than the Bogner with a similar build and the same speakers. Avatar Speakers

hey man,i use randall mesa and marshall heads on tour and in the studio. i personally think your paying for a name with bogner. no doubt great gear, but you could probably find a 2x12 or 4x12 old marshall for the same price or cheaper.....and im a true mesa lover! recorded or live marshall cabs take the cake for "general" use in my opinion. the sm57 of cabs. i dont think you will get the same sound as the 4x12 bogner by using a 2x12 bogner. anyways cheers and good luck!

I have no personal experience with Avatar. I don't have any clips, sorry... try a general search or look in the guitar forum. There have been a few threads about Avatar cabs and mostly positive reviews. I've heard them on stage; a local band uses Avatar cabs for both guitar players and they love them, but I haven't played one myself so I can't really comment on their build or durability.

Dude...I have a 1x12 closed cab and a 2x12 closed cab with vintage 30's in them (the 2x12 is wired stereo) from avatar and they sound really good!
Haven't compared them to bogners but have compared them to orange and mesas...they hold their own for sure.
The guy who runs the show there is also a super cool dude...talked with me for 30 min just asking about my rig and music I love...great customer support

I have an Avatar 2x12 with celestion V30's. My Mesa 4x12 oversize cab with V30s completly blows it away when recording. The size of the cab definitely creates a different sound.

I have 3 Avatar cabs, two 4x12s and a 2x12. One has G12-H30s, one has the Legend V12s, and the 2x12 has "Hellatone 60Ls", which is the special Mode 4 V30 treated and broken in by Avatar. While boutique cabs with proprietary designs may be more desirable, the Avatar sound is certainly comparable to your average Marshall or Mesa cab, depending on the Avatar design.

They are built very well, Dave has an excellent customer service record, I'll certainly buy from them again.

Clips are misleading - engineering skill, mic and pre play too large a factor IMHO - but here are some pics, and the amps I use with em.

The 4x12s

The 2x12 (The top gray one) - It's worth noting that I have since sold the Bogner cab.

now why would you assume a 2x12 is comparable with an oversized 4x12? one will be better than the other depending on what you are going after...try comparing apples to apples...that would mean a lot more.

now if you were trying to say get an oversized 4x12 rather than a 2x12 then fine...but for what style of music?

i think i may get a 4x12 cab with some vintage 30s in it. that seems like it would cover my grounds for mostly what i'd use it for and all in all it'd only cost me £500! including shipping to the UK that's a damn good price !

There are plenty of great cabinets. That said Bogner OS 2x12 is an amazing box & probably my favorite & I've tried MANY.
