Creating a visual loop based click track for Pro Tools.

Hi everyone.

I'm wondering if there any free software out there that would allow me to easily create a preset loop at any BPM for use as a click track?

I often find the standard Pro Tools click doesn't help the performance that much and something more musical helps the performer. Not only that but i find it easier to have a visual click for editing later on.

I know stylus RMX does exactly what i need but it's about £200.

Any suggestions?

Program a drum loop using Digi's Boom maybe? That way the click will be spot on with the grid in PT.

I don't get it. You can change the emphasis, type of click, sound of the click, swing, etc. It is it that hard for you to record the click, trim it and duplicate it? Man. How lazy PT makes people sometimes.

Why not grid mode it and time strech your loop? Seems perfect to me...

Yeah i suppose your right Makeinithappen. Although not sure what my BPM sway is from original before the artifacts get too nasty?

I'd like to think paying more attention to detail rather than less.

Most musicians HATE click tracks, I HATE click tracks! They drive me nuts.

In my opinion, a nice percussion/samba loop or something can be much more conducive to a good performance and improve the feel of the performance.

Whats the problem? Set your tempo and time stretch a percussion loop, or program a drum beat with samples. If you have decent sample collections, chances are you will find a loop close to, if not exactly the tempo you need

Yep... And who gives a crap if there are artifacts? Its a click... It's not staying. Personally, I have a conga loop I like to use and if I'm doing an acoustic guitar.. I usually have the gtr player tap a rythem on the body of his/her guitar and loop that.. that way they set their own tempo!
