What's the best time-stretch plugin that's NOT Serato Pitch n Time? Need advice.

Here's the issue:

Problem
- Distorted guitar driven track at 92bpm (think Paramore)
- I'm using Adobe Audition as the audio editor (to speed stuff up).
- I just want to speed the track by 2bpm.
- I use Cubase

What happened so far
- I sped up the track 2 bpm. You can hear the freakin' ARTIFACTS!
- I sped up by a measly 1 bpm. Still sounds like SHITE!

What do you recommend?
- My system is incompatible with Serato Pitch n' Time (no PT)...
- Is there something I'm doing wrong in Audition (where I'm assigning splicing frequencies?)
- Is there BETTER audio program (Wavelab?, SoundForge?) that has a better algorithm for speeding up songs without artifacts?

The original mix is awesome. It feels like it "lags" a bit and could use an extra 2bpm.

Your suggestions are welcome! What do you recommend? This problem has been making me INSANE.

If it's palm mutes, and you want to speed it up, there's no need to stretch it... Just chop it up on the transient of each hit and nudge them backward...

If you're using Cubase, the time adjustment algo should be the same as Wavelab.

Much as I dislike Sound Forge, the time compression plugin has given me really good results.

If you're not editing as has already been suggested, I've found Waves Soundshifter to be the highest quality tool for the job.

It's not just the palm mutes. It's the whole song.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'd still be tempted to chop up note by note and put them in the right place - tedious, yes, but worth it for the results.

Get a free demo version of Melodyne and be very pleasantly surprised.
