Thread Starter | D224E - blown.
Hey, Just picked up an AKG D224E from Ebay, and it has no top end, above 800 hz. The top end part of the dual capsule is obviously blown. Anyone ever have any luck fixing one of these? I don't think AKG services these anymore. Will probably go for a refund, but if I can fix it I'd like to. I have read these are fragile, but it's usually the bottom end that vanishes. thx. |

| Lives for gear | D224E - so frickin fragile. no more parts from akg either, I have no useful ideas for you but wanted to sympathize with you since I lost one a few years back as well, although at least got to use it for a few years first. great mics, only if they work. one of your elements is toast in it's two way design. |

Never (I say never) buy a microphone via epay, the risk is too high you will have a problem. I've read many posts about MD421's that didn't work an other mics with all kinds of problems. I've got a D202 for free, some tromboneplayer gave it to me because he never used it and it sounds great, but I keep it in the closet. Many of the D202's are broken as well, a good one has a huge low end.
