KRK outputs to mains???

I just bought a KRK 10s subwoofer to accompany my Mackie 624's. I am trying to keep the frequency response of my monitors as FLAT as possible (as anyone would) but I'm wondering about the signal chain.

Do I need to go directly out of my Hardware driver into the Mackie's in order to keep the siganl chain as "uncolored" as possible or are the XLR outputs of the KRK are transparent enough that the sound will remain unchanged?

Thanks

CoJo
