I've kept quiet about this for a few weeks. I knew it was coming but was asked to keep it quiet till it was out. Well the P501 Audio Processor is here. Looks like it could be another winner for Safe Sound Audio?

Well, it's a mic pre, DI, Comp and Limiter all in one. Similar to the P1, but I think the pre is different, but not sure. I hope it's an improvement as the mic pre in the P1 to me was the weakest part although it was still good. Have a look here: -= Safe Sound Audio =- |

War had already posted a bit more in-depth article here: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/new-p...r-limiter.html I love the fact this is almost a 'channelstrip' (sans fully functional EQ) - VERY handy for folks economizing on size, yet not on functionality. I've yet to hear any SafeSound merch., but a couple of colleagues own pieces and love them. |

I've rebuilt a few P-1's. They used a BB INA217 mic pre chip. I replaced them with the that 1510. It requires adding a pair of 470 pf NPO ceramic caps from pin's 2 and 3 to pin 5 = ground to control instabilities. I've had to do that in Toft consoles as well to prevent "ghosting" effects. Most designers used the chipsets right off the apps pages without further thought. That is why one sees so many similar designs with these parts, none with caps to ground , just one cap across the inputs, typically a single 470 pf. Jim Williams Audio Upgrades |

How did I not know about this company?! Both the P1 and the 400 series unit look amazing. Dammit. And I was just about to buy a Vibrolux....haha

Oh man, the Dynamic Toolbox is about as cool as it gets in my opinion.

Robert has been using the 1510 for months now. Earlier units had the INA217. War | |
