Thread Starter | Want to shoot out Korg DSD against Studer in Bay Area
Hi folks, A few gear-loving friends and I would really like to do a shootout of either the Korg MR1000 or MR2000 DSD recorders against my Studer A807 1/4" deck and Mytek converters. We've heard many good things about DSD and would really like to see how it stacks up. Does anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area have one of these units and would be willing to bring it by for a shootout? If you do please get in touch. thanks, Brad

I believe that OTR Studios has a Sonoma DSD. That is the only DSD in the bay area I am aware of. I believe they run tape for tracking though, so that might suggest something. |

Yeah it certainly does! I was curious what one of those Sonoma systems cost so I looked it up. It's $72k for a 24-channel system. Yikes. Yeah that Korg is priced just right for my budget. And my tape decks are even cheaper. Brad |

I wish I had one...... Guitar Center (yeah - boo, hiss, I know) usually stocks the MR-100 field recorder. I can go and ask a couple of guys I know who work there if they've sold any and maybe see if I can locate an owner, but I won't promise anything, as I imagine that their store policy only allows revealing customer info to companies willing to pay for it in bulk..... but I'll give it a try anyway - I need to get some picks..... Or perhaps you could explain this to someone at GC down in your area and arrange a loaner...... |
