Vintech and Peluso?
Unless I'm mistaken - there's also a Rode K2 in the drum room.

Just because it's not expensive, doesn't mean it's not good.

Hi Freebase!

The Studio is just Gorgeous! and great gear selection.thumbsup

I guess Tommy is not a fan of API Pres for Drums?? ...I did not see any in the Gear List, and really Tommy being a Drummer ..I imagine he must be very concern about the Mic Pres for his Drum Kit......so why not any API Pres?? ...are not of his taste??

***and not only for Drums??

I'm guessing that after having worked with Bob Rock and his racks of 1073's and 1081's he's been a Neve guy for a while.

Thanks for all your answers Freebase, I as well as others I'm sure, appreciate you taking the time to write. I do love the 273 I have and while get a price difference and I don't feel that the Vintech falls too short of the real thing, yet it's considerably less and more consistent. Can be perplexing to some I guess.

man, what's with all these musos/producers doing fancy websites to show off their flash studios that aren't open to the public?! it's worse than another "Show off your studio <insert year here" thread!

bloody nice studio though. he deserves it, having survived both Nikki Sixx and Pamela Anderson and come out reasonably unscathed. ;-)

No problem, I'm a gearslut just like everyone else here! If there were less "haters" wanting to slam everything anyone else does or says, I think we'd get a lot more "pros" coming on the forums and sharing stuff like this more often!

Hey Freebase,

Just been aware of this studio through another thread. It looks really nice, congratulations on the cosmetic work.

How does the control room sound? With the way the room measures, is laid out and treated I suspect a lot of L-R phase inconsistencies in the low mids, comb filtering in the top end and problems in the 50Hz-80Hz area due to a full square shape and the sub crossover that were not countertackled by proper treatment. One side covered full of glass windows while the other wall being full of rack gear is looking for trouble in my experience and I just wondered how the RPG wells at the back were enough the tame them all. The measurements results should be boiling over.

How did it work out in the end?

Kind regards,

B.

Nikki Sixx may be an evil (and hugely talented) bastard, but 'unscathed' certainly isn't my impression of Tommy Lee . . .

Hi Freebase

That's a kick ass place! Love the vibe.

I was wondering the same thing. From what I can tell all the surfaces in every room are parallel with not a lot of acoustic treatment. Are the walls all hard surface or am I missing something? I already posted a question about this at another studio design forum but I didn't know here we have some first hand info.

We're about to start building a studio an the 5th floor of a commercial building with windows all through the outside wall... soooo I'd like to know how's it all working for you?

Thanks,

Tomi
