How to setup external drive as dedicated audio drive for pro tools m-powered v. 8

Wats good All,

Just bought a 1TB external HD to go with my Pro Tools M-powered 8 and a m-audio fast track ultra

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the proper way to set it up as a dedicated Audio Drive so my OS will run on my laptop and everything else is running off my external drive.

Thanks for any help

Basically when you start a session you save it to your external drive.. From that point on PT will use that drive for the session. You can also go to the Workspace menu (under the Window Menu) and turn the drives you don't want to record onto to Transfer only, that way audio won't record to them. That is:
Window>Workspace, set the other drives to "T"
I hope this makes sense.

the OP is working with a laptop. therefore, using the external drive will substantially increase drive efficiency....and keeping your OS separate from your audio is often a great idea. if you have a system meltdown, you won't lose tons of work if you need to reformat your OS drive.
