I have a V4HD, but I only record audio in a corporate type setting, so because the source is mostly a V.O. and music playback I can't judge the details of the sound.
I am also using the unit to capture video and audio into Final Cut Pro, so I am pretty much only dealing with 16 bit, 44.1k audio.

I will say that when I broke my V3HD by plugging in the Firewire 400 cable UPSIDE DOWN!!!! They sent me a new V4HD for free via Fed EX 2nd day!
Notice that it is WAYYYYYY too easy to plug in the Firewire 400 upside down like I did.
The receptacle is keyed, but with surprisingly little force it is possible to plug the thing in wrong.
It smoked the Firewire buss in the V3HD.

I am actually curious to see how much better the audio is with this unit for music work.
I am planning on doing some over-dubs on a CD project with the v4HD quite soon.
next week possibly.
