So another what mic is this question.

Also, that white thing in the background. Is that just a headphone mix thing of some kind. If so, what are some good ones to get as I need to get something like this.

Thanks

The white thing is a Mytek Private Q 12ch. headphone mixer, which is an excellent system. Pretty pricey though. Not sure how many channels you need, or what your budget is, but two other individual headphone distro. systems are the Hearback (mid priced, 10ch) which is also pretty good, and the Furman HDS6/HR6 (lower priced, 6ch) which I've never used.
I'm stumped on the mic though...whatever it is, I've never used one. Almost looks like a Sony C800, minus the heat sink.
Best,
-GD

Hard to tell from that angle, but it bears some resemblance to the Sony C800g.

Dang, both of those seem real close. I'll see if I can find another clip with a better angle.

It appears to be a Sony C800 (not the "G" version), which if I am remembering correctly, looks exactly the same as the C800G without the heat sink on the back.

It is not. The Brauner has a different elastic suspension. Also, the Valvet X is quite small. I own one, so I know ...

Agreed.. or a prototype C800G which didn't have the heatsink.

Errrr.. the elastic suspension looks like it's from Oktava ..? Duh... but then again the mic might be whatever. The headphones look like Beyerdynamics.

if anyone is interested if you search "paramore" on hulu, there is about a 30 minute long in the studio documentary on the "brand new eyes" record. you can get a good look at alot of what was being used in some spots of the video (even tho its a promo video for the band). i rather enjoyed it. and if your curious to see what rob cavallo's house looks like its also a good resource for that too. haha! don't be a stalker.

i also wanted to add that my favorite part of that record is what was recorded as the light percussive thump sound in the song "misguided ghosts". its funny how experimental things can get sometimes when you do recordings in a house rather than a commercial "clock on the wall" studio.
