| Gear interested | Some Audio Interface Advice
Hello all. I'm fairly new to the board and have a question for the pros! My wife and I are hobbyist musicians and we are looking to do some basic recording on my iMac (~15 mos old). We will need one or two instrument inputs, one mic input and MIDI. Our music instructor pointed me in the direction of a few interfaces and I was wondering if anyone had some experience with them, and if so, what do you think. The devices are... Lexicon USB Audio Interfaces | Sweetwater.com Lambda PreSonus USB Audio Interfaces | Sweetwater.com Any experiences good or bad would be great to hear. Thanks for your time! -Seth |

I have a couple of friends who use the Audiobox (presonus). They've never had a problem with them. I mix a lot of their stuff and it records well enough. Cheers, Cam

Never used a presonus interface, but I love mostly everything RME makes. As far as software goes Cubase 5 studio would be excellent for MIDI and fairly affordable. If you wanna kill to birds with one stone you could go the protools route with a mbox 2 (software and hardware). Personally I use cubase but have been a protools user in the past. If I were on a mac, needed a smaller interface and software, I would probably go protools. Mike EDIT: Just noticed the price of the units you were looking at and they are a little under both of which I mentioned. If you hear good things about the presonus, thats bundled with Cubase LE 4. Since version 5 is out now you might get a upgrade for free, worth checking into. | |

Presonus works well. Good way to get your feet wet.
