help to start making beats

yo ive been foolin around on fl studio and im seriously becoming addicted.ive be making beats all day for a week or two now and i want to take this a little more seriously. right now all ive been using is fl studio and the plugins but i want to get some equipment so i can have a little more freedom with the sounds i want. i want to get a keyboard and a beatbox to start with i dont have the biggest budget but i want something quality for a decent price. help me out here whats good for the money and what i really need. get back to me.

Very nice, I used to use fl myself. I got into it because I couldn't get a band together to make punk rock and I couldn't play drums(I can now), so I used it to sequence them. I didn't like the results so I started using it only for hip hop. The road to engineering for me was trying to find the answer as to why did what I make not sound like what I listen to.

What kinda beats are you makin and what are some of your influences? With that info, I might be able to help you out. For example, when doing hip hop beats, I do so in more of an early 90's style, which is why the MPC60 and EMAX were good choices for me, but if I was tryin to have more of a radio friendly modern sound, I would have gone with completely different samplers.

I suggest a midi/usb keyboard with drums pads on it, all one unit or separate if you want. Explore every nook and cranny of your fl studio, there are tons of instruments in there.
