Yep. I have info. Here's all you need to know:

It's awesome (very well thought out) and you all will want one. Start saving your pennies and selling your summing boxes.

is it also a DAW controller/motorized faders/recall etc?

Here the same. I would be really interrested in some pics, specs en pricing. That way I can decide if I am going to buy the R16 or wait for the R24!!

Has anyone been on the NAMM who can share some information from Allen & Heath?

Well, just to let you know, there is gonna be a substantial difference in price between the two. Just throw it as a decision factor for you there!

I agree, it'll probably be more expensive. The question is how much more. I expect it to be about 3000 UK pound (around 4000 euro's). Or do you think that's still a much too low guess.

Do you base this on facts you heard (on the NAMM or else) or just from the information on this board (pictures; knowing that it's gonna be 24 channels, meterbridge, probably moving faders...).

If you have some new fact/knowledge on pricing, can you share it with us?

Sorry guys...when I have a little time later I'll post some information. Some things are still in works so I'll have to defer to Mike. Quickly regarding pricing. It will be more expensive than R16. Pricing is up in the air right now because they are still working out some features. Mike will have to be the one that gives you more specifics on that. For now let's just say it will be much less than the cost of an SSL Matrix but will do much more. I expressed to Mike that I thought it would be a successful product if they could sell it for under $10k USD.

More later,
Brad

i figured if they could keep it under 10 or around 10 it would be THE native competition for the C24 but alot better with alot more to it??

if they can drop it in under 10 and it works great and sounds great it will be a winner

I've been expecting about £4000 - 6000... Seems about right to be in the same ball park as the Audient Zen... Fingers, toes and legs crossed for good news on the price!

Guys,

Read my previous post carefully. I didn't say the price would be at or around $10k. I don't know what the console will cost. That is for Allen and Heath to decide. What I said was that I personally thought that under $10k would be a reasonable price for a console that did everything that Mike showed me. In other words Brad McGowan might be willing to pay upto $10k for all that functionality in one integrated product. If it ended up costing $6k then I would be much happier of course. That is my own opinion only and is not something that bears any relevance to the information about the console I was given at NAMM. And keep in mind that U.S. pricing and European pricing are two different things that aren't necessarily related to the current monetary exchange rates.

Please do not spread rumors about pricing! Nobody has been given that information yet.

Here in the UK i am hoping for around £3000-£3500. The Zed R16 is around £1500 here. If it's much more than that don't know if i could afford it. I will be very disappointed as i have set my heart on one of these babies.

Brad 's right we shouldn't spread rumors about pricing!!! But I agree on SatisSound; more than £3000-£3500 I can't afford and would make met very disappointed as well.

The ZED16R was $3500 new when it first came out!
I would think the ZED24R will be at least twice that figure $7k-$8k.
And that would be a phenomenal deal considering all the features the ZED24R will have the R16 doesn't...
The ZED16R only recently dropped in price to $2k this last year due in part to the fact they were building a larger 24 channel version!
IMHO....If you think the ZED24R will come in under 6K your dreaming!

If it does come in under that figure you better get your order in quick because you will have a hard time getting one!
They will be out of first run production within a week.....

Key things to keep in mind for this board that will drive cost:

1. It's 24 channels with 4 band EQ on every channel (2 fully parametric mids).
2. The fully tricked out version will have motorized 100mm faders that can control your DAW and/or receive MIDI data for full motorized analog automation!!!
3. It has an outboard power supply.
4. It's almost 4 feet wide.
5. It will have 32 channels of AD and DA built in. (someone tell me about the quality of the R16 conversion...good?)

I personally wouldn't get your hopes up for this thing to cost less than the price of a Toft ATB24. That's how I am looking at it....take a comparable feature set but add in the cost of 32 channels of conversion plus the cost of motorized automation. Has anyone been able to offer anything approaching that for under $10k yet? Under $20k yet (ahem SSL Matrix)?

Save your money for another year. It will still be just as cool in 1.5-2 years.

I'm sure that AlienHeath said earlier in the thread that motorized faders will be optional.

Mike has already mentioned this earlier on in the post!

And yes I agree with Brad we shouldn't expect something for nothing cause if it was poorly constructed we would be complaining, you cant have it both ways.
This is a very expensive country for manufacturing unfortunately.
If you cant afford it upon release then save up some more.
As far as I'm concerned the market is awash with sub standard equipment made to fit a price point, so if A&H deliver a quality product you should be prepared to pay for it, if you want it!

its not about wanting something for nothing. Its about wanting less features and better quality. 24 ins, nice eq, 4-8 buses but NO CONVERTERS!!! I already have very good ones and I don't want to pay for more. And I don't want to have to change the board for a new one in 3-4 years because there are betters ones out there or because the standards have changed.

I don't freaking get it, A&H should have the same goal cause all they need is have to deal with sync, digital clicks etc... Companies go down because of these kinds of problems. Do a search for ZED R16 and all you find that is positive and that has no problems is the analogue side...but there are many many discussions about digital problems.

I already lost sooooo much money on digital boards that I don't want a hybrid. I want a quality analogue desk that will play nicely with my digital toys. How many people have purchased 02Rs for 12000.00 and they are now worthless???

Come one A&H, just give me a Ghost/Toft equivalent but done the right way!
