They are beyond impossible to buy now

If this is a G3k for the 2000's then weeeee

Man, that's no joke. Never before has there been a piece of equipment I wanted more than a GS3000. For whatever reason, I have been lusting for one for years....as if it was the last and biggest piece of the puzzle for me and would elevate anything I did to legendary status... LOL!
I've never even seen one in person. At one point, there was one on ebay for $2000 but I wasn't in the markert then, but knew what it was.

Maybe it's because Johnny Marr had worked on one... ??

What's frustrating (sort of) is that if this is a new GS3000, I no longer use a computer to record with and this things is geared (and priced) for that. My machine does have 8 channels of adat built in though, so if it's a 3000 with adat......

I am amazed that there isn't more discussion about this, at least after Mike posted the pics! It is great to see another alternative to Ghost and ATB. There aren't too many analog studio mixers available these days. It seems that the same is happening to analog studio mixers as what has happened to analog synths. When the digital synths came, almost all analog ones lost their value but later gained the value back and there are some companies now that build new analog synths. The more affordable analog mixers and meterbridges are coming back as people realize that they don't want to mix with the mouse. Real faders, real eq's, real touch to the mixing.

I'm too excited to talk!! and I currently own an ATB which I'm selling only because the R24 promises to get even closer to my ideal console.
The ATB is a very nice console not without its quirks ! but to be honest the small analogue desk market has not been overwhelmed with choice so props to all at Allen and Heath for bringing this product to the table!!

I love my ZED and am still wowed by the pre's, but it really is a shame the ATB didn't deliver the way it should have. There was an incredible opportunity there to produce a small console worthy of critical acclaim. The pre's seemed to fall short of expectations and of course everyone is aware by now of all the nightmare stories of component failures, feature failures, and quirks (in general).

A&H is fully capable of delivering dependability right out of the box and I feel the hype surrounding the advent of an R24 is well-deserved. Plus it shows commitment to the consumer...a lot of people stood up and said, "hey an R16 is cool but how's about some 24 channel love"...and A&H stepped up to the plate. That's the way I saw it anyway - I could be wrong.

Seems to me expectations were set a little low for the ZED, and A&H delivered above expectations. Expectations on the ATB were set high but failed to actually meet those expectations.

I agree here pretty much. Having owned both an ATB and now, an R16, I will say hands down the ZED takes the cake. The two things the ATB still did better, at least in my mind's ear, was that the mixes has a little bit more 'open space' up top and more dimensionality...but that could be on account of the 2nd things...I still miss the EQ's on the Toft.

Having said that.. the ZED's Pre's are just amazing, and the EQ's, though different sounding, character wise, are PERFECT for the type/style of music I record (techno/house)...highly detailed, very 'up front'. The D/A on the R16, too, both my partner and I agree, is better sounding to our ears that EITHER the Apogee Ensemble and 2882 2D's conversion. The word "presense" comes to mind, by comparison. YMMV, but the second the R24 comes out, I don't think I will ever look for another console again the rest of my life. The 8 busses, meter bridges and extra I/O are *exactly* the only things 'missing' on my R16. I might buy another R16 to hold me over, since I think the R24 might take a little while to emerge...and the longer it takes the better, as far as this (very) loyal consumer is concerned!

The two best customer service focused company of 2009, as far as I'm concerned:
A&H, and Barefoot. Never, ever, could I have hoped for better customer service and customer *focus*!

This is what I'm saving my money for.

If it delivers on it's design, then holy crap. Console search over.

I had a little ZED 24 that I sold to pay rent, but I really liked it. This will obviously be in
an entirely different league. I'm already impressed with this product line, I can only
imagine how pleased I might be with a ZED R24.

SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!

THANK YOU MIKE AND A&H!

Yeah, looks very similar. Found a photo of GS3000 showing the tube channels on the left: GS3000 Logo on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I guess we will have more information soon, when the NAMM show begins, as Mike mentioned. I am definitely saving for one.

Updated R16?

Mike/anyone, I was wondering if there might be any additional firewire mixers coming from A&H this year?

The R24 looks great, but I expect that it will probably be out of my price range - and I don't need 24 tracks. The current USA/Canada prices for the R16 ($2000-$2400) are pretty much at the upper end of what I'm looking to spend. I was looking at the Mackie Onyx 1640i until I noticed that the price for the R16 took a dramatic drop in the Fall. I'm just waiting to see where the R24 gets priced and if will be worth spending the extra dough. Thanks.

Send a message via ICQ to ONE LUV
i actually bought a dda dmr 12 board which is from 1991. i bought it for 1700 euro. i´ve also a steinberg mr816 and am looking for a second to feed the mixer.

was it a mistake to buy the old dda (which is in good condition) and not waiting for a a&h r24 only regarding the sound quality, headroom, pre´s and eq´s? for the same money i spend all together for my setup i could also buy a r24...

please no comments about refurbishing/cleaning/repairing the old desk versus a new one...thats something i´m considering when buying an old desk and i have no problem with that.

just the sound quality....

The other shows the R24 next to the R16 - quite a difference in size (and price I expect, but this isn't fixed yet). We'll do our best to try to keep it affordable (hence the non motor-fader model and I/O options) but it's going to be a quality piece of kit which will adapt with changing technology and will probably outlast me!

Cheers,
Mike.
What tha,
I step away from GS and come back to find pics of this beautiful Mixer.
Mike thanks for posting pics on my post, i've been here from the beginning , you
know the guy begging for built in metering and boy did you deliver but with VU metering to go with it I think you may be taking away some SSL customers with this one, keep up the good work and love the pics
Thank You

Hi Brad,
It's still too early to fix the price in the US - although we're getting there with UK pricing I'm not sure how it's fixed in the States. We're honestly trying to keep it affordable - but the dilemma is we want to offer so many features and top performance which doesn't come cheap for a price that is cheap! One things for sure though - you'll be getting a lot for your money, even if I say it myself!
Hope to see you if you're at NAMM.
Cheers,
Mike.

I think if the preamps and e.q rock then you guys will have a winner on your hands. I'm looking at this as the LAST STOP.....and I think alot of others are wanting the same. It's cool if it'll talk nicely to digital gear, and an 8 buss is ESSENTIAL. But I would be more interested in a quality analog sounding machine more so than say a control surface with just average componets..... Gosh, if it was only a GS3000 with adat! that would make it affordable for the serious project studio guys cause the big boys are going to have big/boutique boards anyway. Just my thought on the subject... and thanks for the photos!

wow this is going to be amazing those pics blew my effing mind! it might not take a beating like my mackie 32.8/apogee ensemble combo but certainly will sound better!! cheers
*edit: if it could feature something like apogee's soft limiting to avoid digital clipping that would be double awesome

WAITING.... and WAITING

firstly..
THANKS MIKE!!!
for those pix..thumbsup thumbsup

i have been searching for a mixer that is multi-purpose within digital world
of daws and to have a mixer that gives a pinch of analog and a pinch of digital control in and out of mixes i.e. flying faders, control surface along with it, im sure there will be a BIG HUGE chunk of home studios who will be striving to have one in their studio and workflow and make it the dream mixer, the dream control surface, the dream flexibility of what i think is the missing link in the market today.

things are either a fisher price cost or Matrix price cost, with many features lacking to really be flexible and used in many recording, tracking, and controlling daw situations..

my fingers are indeeeeeeed crossed for this to be or have the options that will be implemented in many project studios and serious home studio situations..

i hope this is will be the CENTRE STAGE mixing/tracking/controlling option in the market today PERIOD!

Peace

Sorry didn't read all the thread.
Will this be made in the UK or China?
I'm in the market to upgrade my Mix Wizard and this looks like the beast, I'm excited!
Also, how will I be able to patch my API lunchbox for lead vox and such?

After lurking for too long, this and the original r16 thread have caused me to join...

I hope this is worth the hype. I can see a r24 size hole in my overdraft if it is!

Also, astounding customer support by Mike. Bravo!

Oh, and, hello everyone!

So, did anybody get any new information? I've been googling the whole weekend and all I can find is that they introduced the new little mixers and a dj controller. I can't see Mike in any of the videos, maybe he got stuck in snow at Heathrow or the marketing team locked him up somewhere with the new pics and info.
