Familiar with Neumann KM851?

I can pick one of these up for a deal. Anyone familiar with them and their best uses?

I'd suggest you might be talking about a Neumann KM85i, not a "KM851"

If so, it's a hypercardioid version of the beloved KM84 and a pretty nice mic.

Ah. I see. One of my dealers said it was 851 over the phone. He said it was a pencil mic (as in longer than a 84) so I didn't connect the dots.

If that is the case then I'll grab it. Thanks Dave.

It's actually the same pattern as the KM84. There is a low frequency roll off built into the capsule. Nice for hats and acoustic gtr.
