Thread Starter | Live Click Track for Drummers??
Our drummer needs to buy a pair of ear phones (snug fitting buds preferably) for a click track to use live. We don't know were to look for the click track, or the ear phones... any suggestions would be great... please and thanks! |

Search for Korg metronomes. Any headphones will work for a live situation.. you're not worried about click leaking into the microphones like you would be in a studio situation. Obviously choose a pair which are comfortable and probably lower impedance for more volume (but which would be more prone to failure). Rail

I would get that: Peterson Strobe Tuners - BodyBeatâ„¢ Compact Pulsing Metronome It's a metronome that you clip on your belt or something like that and instead of making you deaf with a loud click in the ears it makes a pulsation that you feel on your body instead. |

Here's the best/most cost effective way to pull this off that I've found. 1st-you need a metronome. Do yourself a favor and get the Yamaha Click Station. It is the best. It has many cool features. You can store your tempos of your set in order so you can switch through them with the push of 1 button. You can stop here, plug headphones/earbuds into the metronome and call it good. But if your drummer wants to hear a mix of the band instead of just the metronome, here's a simple solution. Get a small, cheap mixer for your drummer. (don't be afraid of the cheapies like behringer for this purpose). 2 inputs are all you need. Plug your metronome into one of the inputs. Plug the send for your drummers mix into the other input. (tell the sound guy your drummer is using in ear monitors instead of a wedge, if he is not completely inept he will know what to do MANY professional touring bands do it this exact way I have described. The beauty is your drummer can balance the click and the mix all by himself. Ear buds are definitely the way to go. But be warned-if your drummer plays hard/sweats a lot, ear buds will likely start popping out of his ears when he plays. A great solution I have found is a puddy-like substance that swimmers use to plug their ears. (I can't remember the name). Put your ear buds in then put the puddy on top of the ear bud. Works great. |
