Thread Starter | Buying either Chameleon Labs 7720 or 7802 tomorrow. Opinions?
Sorry I've made so many posts regarding these 2 pieces lately. I promise this will be my last post about this. I've been beating around the bush and tried comparing them to SSL's and La2A's and a million other ways of getting opinions. Lil help? My only other comps are a dbx 160x and a 163x and a pair of FMR RNC's. I need something for: -Guitars (mostly electric, some acoustic) to a stereo buss -stereo overheads/room buss -Entire drum mixes -Entire stereo vocal mixes -Entire mixes Mainly I record rock music of the heavier variety; but do a little of everything. Which would you go for if you were choosing one or the other and had no other options? Thanks. G.A.S....must spend...money...

Just to boil them down and simplify, go with the 7720 for a cleaner control, and the 7802 for more driven and obvious sounds (more character). War |

Dang. I don't know. It sounds like if I want warm and gooey, ala old school fat round low overtones I go with 7802. (Why wouldn't I?) If I want clean, compressed reduction true to the source with the ability to glue together, I go with the 7720. Based on what I have already (clean RNC, dirty dbx's) ..I'm not sure either. Does either one control drums, bass, vocals better (drummer who can't keep the same volume on kick, snare etc, singer who varies too much in volume) better via a brick wall type thing? I know it sounds like I'm trying to build a super loud mix void of any actual life. I'm not..really. Just curious. Thanks again. |

The 7802 is more different than anything you own...if that helps... War |

Let us know what you think. I might grab a 7720.

IMO you made the right decision. Especially for helping to control an inconsistant drummer. The units internal SC filter can come in real handy on a drum buss.
