Thread Starter | Vocalist needs your expert advice
I looking for a pair of powered monitors primarily to listen to vocals. I only have $500.00-$700.00 for the pair. I will primarily be using them for in home practice (with tracks) in a 15x15 room, light mixing, and to critique myself. I will be using a Shure KSM9 mic into a Soundcraft EFX8 and a TC Helicon Voicetone Correct (for compression only). Thanks in advance for your response PS: If I hear another sound guy say you are recording good vocal tracks with a shure dynamic mic I'm gonna walk into traffic. |

Not sure about your request as a whole, as it seems to me fro the suggested task you could do it with virtually any speakers, but for that money I would frequent ebay and pick up a secondhand pair of passive PMC TB2's....whether the black studio, or the wooden hi-fi version.......you'd get a speaker that will outlast your needs for ages and sounds great. Good luck.

have you considered getting some cans? eg Sennheiser HD600/HD650 (open back - generally considered to be very accurate). Another suggestion - Sennheiser HD25 - but not the cheaper SP version - I agree re PMCs - great speakers - I had no idea they did passives, but would be surprised if you could find any on ebay - I think I'll do the same!

another sugestion - you could get the KRK VXT 4 monitors - they sound amazing. Really good representation of the mids. But possibly they are more than $700 |

Thread Starter | Already have good cans
I already have the Audio-Technica Art-900 monitor cans (highly recommend) but they are colored. I prefer not to wear all them the time especially when practicing vocals. Hence the need or good monitors.
