The more I think about it, to be useful as a "mini-SSL", this thing needs some kind of Record Bus plus maybe Direct Outs.

And Channel Inserts... and a master insert (obviously, for the G-Series Bus Comp)

all via Sub-D

For £1675 ? I believe there are more pressing requirements ... you'll have polarity inversion on your mic pre and within Daw.

I'm incorrect, it does have.

I'm guessing insert(s)...

Also, it does say SuperAnalogue.

- just bought the summing bundle... now this for about $1K USD more - different, I know... but a lot of overlapping features with the summing and monitor section.

They also have mic-preamps. This one don't (I don't think so). The main use would be to feed your daw to the X-desk and you could easily reverse phase on your daw. It may be a phase switch but I could't care less about it. The possibilities to integrate and parallel process stuff with Ssl hardware is a dealbreaker though. With or without recall I'm gonna buy one! Two I mean...

It would be nice to see an expander without the master section... maybe with more and/or stereo channels.

I like it, though... might have an 8-in, master module and Mynx up for sale when this comes out.

I reckon the expander will be eight channel, so that it stays in line with the x-rack.

Totally liking this so far; really glad its not the light grey colour of the x-rack.

I hope that it accommodates for aux returns by, for example, having dual inputs.

Redundant... yes, but you could also think of each unit as a fixed subgroup - gets kind of messy in my head, though... and no TR.

No matter what, one or more of these with some 500, X-Rack or other modules/rack gear will be very cool!

Thanks! I did not see any EQ either otherwise I would jup at it (8 SSL EQs for that price...)

I don't mean to be a dick.

But it's obviously an 8 channel summing mixer and you'll have to buy the EQ's(and you'll have a choice)!

But Jim says it will be expandable. Don't get too excited ot's not an SSL in 1 Rack Unit.

It's an easily expandable 8 channel unit. Just like everyone has been askin' about. You'll buy it in 8 channel units and if you wish to buy another 8 chanells, then you'll get another 8 channels!

It's better than what AMS-NEVE are one About

That's good enough since I'm out for the integration. If it's fixed for the x-rack t's a no go. Not particulary fond of the ssl channel eq/compressors. The bus comp is nice though.

Best,

Jamzone

The key question is does it have recall? I would guess not, since the next step up would be an Xrack with recall, plus I am guessing new buss and send module for the Xrack(with recall) to use in conjunction with the 4 and 8 input Xrack modules.

Right on! Stated that question earlier... Not impossible! Would give SSL a great advantage !

I wonder if there might be a X-Desk TR in the future, and what else SSL will debut in Frankfurt.

About the X-Desk: can it connect to the X-Rack's "Mix Bus Link?"
