intresting

this has got to be some kind of line in summing box, that you can hook up the x modules into for pres and eqs....
def has monitoring, cue send, efx send, some alt 1-2 routing ......... would be cool if it has a use without x modules

I want... although its probably not what I need.

It sort of reminds me of a little Studer / Revox mixer. Is it really "just" a small format 8x2 mixer or could it be something else? Digital patch bay, DAW controller, Duende controller are things I really need, but looking at the pics, I see no evidence that it is anything other than a straight up analog 8x2 desk, though.

Mini SSL

my guess: turns an x-rack into a "mini"-SSL with big faders!

1. take two x-racks with 8 ch. e-series comp + 8 ch. e-series EQ
2. add "x-desk"
3. build into 19"-rack or workstation-table a la "argosy"

here we go = mini 8 ch. E-Series !!!

My guess would be a mini-Matrix with a couple of sends and summing to bridge the gap between summing/mixer and make it simple to use analog outboard... Hopefully recall.

as appealing as that is, I'm sort of doubting it. I figure if it was an accessory for the X-Rack, then at least it would have been matched for color / visual style. this appears to be a stand alone mixer. I *think* it has mic pres built in... trying to figure out if those are PAD and phantom power buttons up top or not. Who knows, maybe it is just line. in today's economy, I figure SSL would do better with a premium, but still relatively "inexpensive" self contained mixer to get the SSL family into smaller rooms, home studios, or as sub mixers rather than providing an accessory for the relatively expensive X-RACK.

SSL's version of the n12, zed-r16, et all??

8 Channel fireware interface/controller with EQ? That would be an amazing deal if it has real SSL E series EQ.

now we're talking, although I would prefer something other than Firewire, as I'd like to reserve my firewire bandwidth for my Duende processes.

So where are the EQ knobs (freq, gain, ...) then? I don't see them...

It's definitely not an E-series EQ, but some type of EQ is pretty obvious from the picture.

Come on - it's so obvious what it is!

The color and layout is exactly matched to the e-series modules. It doesn't have mic-pre's at this price (of course not), but a full-blown master section with all the basics including Dim, Alt-Speakers, iPod Connector Headphones, FX Returns.
No Total Recall though!

Jim, do I win a free x-mix with my prediction? PM me for shipping address... LoL

I heard the rumors already, there is something new SSL. I know not yet what it is, but it costs £ 1675 ex VAT in the UK, and is analogous. And it is called an X-desk. Looks like a small mixertje that your X-Rack can connect, can mix to headphones (and I now just as X-rack bought :-)), I see: 1 stereo FX send and FX 2 mono -sends in the picture. And a talkbackmic. Probably not micpreamps on board, but line inputs, and it seems a monitor controller. When presented the Messe in Frankfurt, so I certainly take a look.

So no EQ then? All I can see is several knobs for FX1, 2 , PAN, Cue, etc but no hint of any EQ or am I missing something?

Cheers

Hopefully they put the mono button in there, too.
