API 550A or Avedis E27... I prefer the Avedis because of the fully adjustable gain ranges and twice as many frequency choices. Plus, it has better top end choices.

But... you can never go wrong with a good PULTEC.

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

the LilFreQ is never a bad eq on anything. Massive Passive. Fearn, Pultec, EAR, Fairman or similar, all tend to be nice on vocals. 500 series: Avedis E27, A Designs PEQ, Purple TAV, AltaModa AM-20 and others.

It's about chain synergy, it's about a musical result and a vibe. What does your chain want from this eq? ... Clean Control? Harmonic Depth? Midrange Boosts? Top end boosts? Versatility? One trick pony?

What's the compression you're using? that's going to be more of the sound in all likelihood...

Neve 5033 can work magic on vocals if the mic and pre combo is doing its job correctly. I'm a true believer in keeping EQ on vocals to a minimum and the 5033 does just that due to its humble characteristics.
