cubase's stinky EQ NULLs wave Ren EQ

i have read an article while ago, that was saying all digital EQs should sound then same, as they all are using the same algorithm...

for people who is interested to try :

example setting :

waves ren EQ

gain : -10
freq : 120
Q: 0.88

equal Cubase channel EQ :
gain : -10
freq : 120
Q : 2.4

Q is the difference

if you change the gain, you have to change Q too
i didnt check with a frequency analyzer which one have the gain vs Q relation but,
they always NULL, what ever the frequency, gain value is... only thing changes the
value of Q...

another example:
on -5 db deduction
ren eq Q : 1.84
cubase Q : 2.4

i always kept the cubase eq Q value as set, as you cant do two decimal adjustment on it
ie: 0.46 , it can set to 0.5. or 0.4

regards

ps: i have managed to get 0.4 db difference between cubase EQ against SSL eq... on a mastered commercial track...
i think that is pretty damn close, if you consider, it has all that analog switches etc...
mind you, 0.4 db on a fully mastered track, is inaudible...
but on mixing heavy session it might add all up....
i have to try and see, on 8 track and compare the results...
so, if you are using your SSL eq on your self DIY home mastering chain... i doubt it will make any difference.... 0.4 out of 0 db, inaudible for me...

if you want to see what the ssl analogue button adds, just set it to the same settings on 2 tracks, with only the analogue in on one of them, flip phase...

white noise.
