Soundcraft Ghost parts - are they rare ?

ive just got off the phone with a technician of a respected shop here and what he sad was very wierd to me, im soon closing a deal on 32ch ghost, one PAN potentiometer will pan only to R, looks like L is dead.

the tech saying that those potentiometers are very rare and cannot be found or replace with new, so cleaning is my only option there and hes not sure that its solve the problem.. same with all Push buttons (groops, cut, solo).

has anyone had similar problem ?

I had to clean my Soundcraft Ghost 32 2 weeks ago. I had some scratchy pots, so I cleaned em all with Diox it spray. Fearing I'd screw up a few channels, I decided ahead of time I'd call Soundcraft and ask what a replacement channel would cost. They told me around $148 per channel.

I don't know about a replacement pot. The pots are soldered on the individual channels. The only company I heard of selling specialty stuff like that is a company called "Digikey".

If they don't have it nobody does. Hope this helps.

Parts are still available. They are panasonic pots i believe, i ordered one a few weeks back, replaced my control room pot on the master board.
Just took my 48 channel ghost apart, all main boards out, had aux 8 modded so that its in the main channel path, not the tape path (So now i have 2 stereo sends per channel)
Boy.. putting it back together wasnt so much fun..

Ummm no.. i didnt do the mod i sent to a guy i know.
Took all the main cards out and shipped them up in a big keyboard flightcase.
He cut a few traces and soldered two short cables for each card, couldnt tell you the position on the card without looking again.
You can get the Ghost schematics off the internet, just send them over to your tech he will know what to do.
Well worth doing though. I can have two stereo verbs and the the other 6 mono for delay and other stuff.
(Sorry missed your message cosmos first time round)
