fader couplers

I'm looking for some fader couplers for my console (Oram/Trident 8T RTB), I can't find any. Anyone know where to buy some one-size-fits-all fader couplers online?

I never knew this was something you _could_ buy anywhere...

I wanted something to reliably link two channels together and came up with this solution...

I pulled off all of my fader caps... and used a drill press to drill a small 1/8" hole through the side of each one near the end... (built a little jig to clamp them in place so each one would be in exactly the same position)

cut sections of 1/8" steel rod into pins that could be slid through 2 faders at a time (i've never needed to link more than 2, but conceivably you could push it through more than 2 faders - just make sure the pins cant bend easily... longer they are,the more easily they would bend... depends on how precise you wanna be,...)

make sure if your board has things like track assignment buttons between your faders that the connecting pin will clear the top of them in their up position... (wasnt an issue at all with my board as the track select buttons as very tiny compared to the height of the fader knobs...)

I used to use a pencil all the time...
finally broke down and drilled the holes when I realized how often I was doing it
--- that and the pencils/pens I had on hand were always long enough to get in the way of tracks to either side of the ones i was linking...

btw-- my partner just reminded me that the steel "rod" that I cut to make the pins were just common nails...

Couldn't you just break the pencil to match the size you need? I mean how much does the thing cost?

Anyways, your system is much more advanced. I just wonder "what for?"

Cheers!

Any time I work on a new console where I need to group 2 fades, I just take some bakable modelling clay (most polymer clays are good here) and smush the block down on the faders. Mold it to be nice and ergonomic then bake it.

If you purchase good clay, there's almost 0 risk of it leaving any mark, residue or any other problems. In fact, if you don't wipe down the desk first, you'll end up with a bunch of shit on your clay from the desk rather than vice versa.

It's very cheap, easy and you can customize the layout (one channel up/down).

This sounds like a great idea! This modelling clay could potentially be very useful for more stuff in the studio.
