| GC service (and stores) are all over the map... er, in so many ways. I've had absolutely killer salespeople who knew their stuff, were friendly, cut good deals without a freakin' S & M minuette. (And, I feel certain, those folks probably wouldn't take advantage of less knowledgeable customers. When I meet a new salesman, I've done my homework [as a rule] but I usually play dumb, just to find out what they're all about. If they appear to be creeps who will shaft unsuspecting customers, I approach warily, if at all. I mean, I don't know everything, and arrogance goes before the fleecing, in so many cases.) Then again, all too often, I've experienced sales people who just didn't care or who approached each new customer as a new mark... Of course, GC has no lock on those behaviors... I've seen bad or wrong-headed salespeople at all the big stores and more than a few of the little ones... |
