Metering OTB

hi there,

this topic has been discussed a lot but i cannot get my head round it.

I have this set up ad16x -> 8816 -> rosetta 800. I am sending a 0 db 1khz doing this by outputting a 0db with a test oscillator on logic and this where my first problem is when measuring gnd to tip of a bantam lead 0db on logic output is showing +14db on the rosetta output this is something i cannot understand.

I am leveling the output of the 8816 to make sure its 0db and measure the level of the 8816 (ground tip of a balanced bantam lead) with an oscilloscope to make sure its outputting 0 db and it is. Then i am inserting this signal into the rosetta 800. the problem is when doing a level meter on a logic channel to check the db level its showing that the level is -14db ... i usually would put a mic pre to put this level up. ut what i cannot understand is why this drop in level... i would appreciate if someone can explain this to me...

cheers
keith
