Seriously you should find a way to take the plugin controller into production, to be sold at the store.
I'm sure it would sell, especially at the prices you pointed out!!

That´s the idea.
You define it and save a .dragon file, one per plugin.

That will depend on how many people want the product at that platform.

Seriously

Now, getting a little bit more serious, I am thinking of mass producting it.

I am verifying how much it will cost to really produce a hardware controller instead of modifying an bcr 2000 for example.

However, this would take a little longer, perhaps a year.

Of course, everything will depend on how many people are interested in it.

There ARE people watching.

Keep the messages coming!

Hi Paulo---

You got an amazing product going on, congratulations! I hope you get to market your product, and sell a whole bunch of them. I would be careful of two things:

1) Patent your invention in the US and globally

2) Don't take that long before marketing it. Big companies may take notice and do it before a year or so, and win the market over you...

Best luck, and congrats again!

PS. I also recommend driving your effort towards the plug-in controller. Not so much the touchscreen, as it seems it not too many folks would be as interested.

I'd buy it for DP/Logic/AU in a heartbeat. So there's one more customer for that platform. thumbsup

Well done, Paulo.

Get that thing patented... now!

Get me one... now!

Hi Paulo, you have yourself another guaranteed buyer here for the plug-in controller!
Plus at least ten others that would be interested - PC and cubase here so I'm ready when you are

Fantastic idea by the way, exactly what we need. Something with faders is definitely the best next step, such a lack of sanely priced choices in this area of the market.

Yeah, I think making it a mass produced product is the best way to go instead of cannibalizing the BCR2000. If you want to get the product to market with less involvement on your part you may just want to try and market your idea to one of the bigger companies after getting a patent for it. I personally think you should contact Focusrite/Novation. I can picture a product taking advantage of Automap Universal that would be very powerful. Those guys would definitely be interested.

Whatever you do, get the intellectual property rights sorted out first!

It would still be a good idea to sell prototype versions based on the BCR...so that you can finance your endeavor.

Hello Paulo,

Very well done and I must say it is one product that is needed in this industry. This is my first post here and I have to say the product is definitely caught my attention and of many others in here. I would be very much interested in some kind of partnership on this venture. Lets talk and see if we can give these guys a decent product. The idea is great but it needs to be commercial grade with feel and look for pros. The product needs to be built from the ground up. Since the code is already done for Cubase and Nuendo it will not take a year. I also have access to about 20 coders in my team if needed. I can have design done in matter of few months. I also have plenty of lawyers who work for me so if you need help I can guide you on that as well. Lets talk!

Regards

Michael.

Patent

It seems that the idea of using hardware buttons over an lcd screen is already patented in the USA.

I am investigating this; if this is true, I'm sorry but I could not sell anything to anybody.

However, somehow I think I got a lot of new friends :-)

+1 - this plugin controller has a synergy with the automap concept that I really like.

However the hardware controller is so much nicer - great stuff Paulo.

Hi

Have a look at www.uCApps.de
Midibox 64 is what I would suggest they are very easy to put together and can be highly modified.

I have ripped apart just about every thing I have that is a controller to mod but in the end MidiBox is the way for me I use a Midibox 64 and 3 Midibox LC's

It is DIY and has restraints on reselling but you can apply for permission to
sell. Some pretty cool people on the forum to bounce ideas off
and I would think you would have at least a shot at permission.

preprinted boards AVI Showtech - MIDIbox Online Store

also Xkeys X-keys Matrix Boards by P.I. Engineering might help

I have a touchscreen that I use but I use a Flash to Midi plugin from
Alexis Isaac
FlashMidi samples

It works really good for me but I do not get all of the feedback from Cubase
that you do

you seem to be ahead of this useing steinberg SDK that I dont have

I really like the way you did the knobs over the screen.
I think I saw a picture of this on a Harrison console and wondered how it could be done. I think you came up with a really cost effective workaround.

Good luck and keep pushing forward

You still could build and sell these for us...it would just have to be done from one friend to another. Keep investigating. There are still lots of us that would want this even if it it's not a slick production model. Your DIY version would suit many of us just fine, especially for the price you quoted earlier.

thanks,
Brad

I would definitely purchase one, Cubase4/reaper PC.

some questions :

1) will you ship the software to create the adapted plugin for the plugin controler's screen ?

2) will this be a "standalone" version (without the touchscreen) ?

3) is it possible to change the inserts (remove/add) of the selected track directly from the plugin controller ?

Bravo again,

I'm always confident to brazilian people since I know "Os mutantes"

That controller looks like the first truly inovative thing I've seen for long.
You MUST produce this. Contact Steinberg/Yamaha! Or. if You like, I could help You making contact to Behringer. I live in Germany, just like Behringer. I know some people who have great contacts to that company! I know some real important european distributors. I can't promise, but I can try...
PM me, if You like...

Paulo, great looking controller!
I know tons of people at studios that would be ecstatic and buy the product in a heartbeat if it were available for Pro Tools.
Regarding the patent, you could always look into licensing from whoever owns the patent, if you really can't get away with it, and charge that cost on top of the product price.

I too long for a plugin controller like this one. Its ideal..well done!
I think it is similar to the screens on the Studer Vista console? Perhaps it is their patent?
Anyone able to put one of these into production would make a KILLING! Especially if it had something similar to Automap.. its what Digidesign has needed to make for a long time..shame they prob never will..
