That plug-in controller is sick. Well done. The first guy to push that to market could do quite well. Good luck!

It sounds like there is serious interest for the plugin controller at least.

Throw out some prices for the plugin controller and the main controller and seee what everyone says. I'm definitely curious. What would the user be required to supply? A second computer?

thanks,
Brad

The plug-in controller is fantastic. The touch-screen is also nice, but the plug-in controller gets points for uniqueness.

Dos the plugin controller has to be programed for each individual plugin or does it work with anything you throw at it?

Paulo,

If I were you I would make sure you protect the intellectual property you have developed with a copyright or patent. It's worth looking into.

I would also recommend that you try to market your ideas to Novation who make a really excellent plugin mapping software called Automap.

It has a screen to manually assign each encoder and button.
it also has several parameters to control the operation.
The operation is not automatic, however I could do it. I do not see the point, since this was the easiest and funiest part.

Paulo, truly amazing stuff - I'm trying to find ways to make my studio more hands on at the moment as far as DAW control goes (with me it's more the editing than the mixing I want this for, but your plugin controller looks ideal!). None of the existing companies seem to have it down yet ( at least in any realistic budget), so If you ever do market this stuff, I'm In!!! I bought a Lemur/Dexter thinking this would solve all my problems, but touchscreen alone doesn't work for me - real knobs, switches and faders alongside a user definable/programmable interface is the way to go, and you seem to be some way there... congrats!

Hey Paulo I'd definitely be interested in one if u were willing to make more and sell them. I use Cubase also so it would be no problem. I'm sure we could get a huge group buy together. Think about it

+1 on having to setup each plugin manually.

Count me in for a group buy. I would love to have 4 of them. 1 that always stays on lead vocals, 1 for kick, 1 for snare, and 1 "floater".

Personally, I'd LOVE to see a full on DAW controller along the lines of the plugin controller. Real hardware feel and interaction. Something with dedicated knobs/buttons for pan, mute, solo, rec., 3-5 aux sends with pre/post switches, etc. + LED scribble strips + 100mm faders, and sell them in 12 channel "buckets". Maybe in a rackmountable design so they can easily fit in 3rd party desks.

Very nice -- hardware knobs with a changing backdrop for different plugins -- like a more flexible Liquid Mix. A great idea. I'd love to see something like this with a high-res oled panel.

Questions

Hi...
I am a little bit overwhelmed by all this interest.

The bad news: if I had to build ONE, it would be at least a grand.
The good news: If I had to built 5 I think that I could build them for around $500 (plus shipping). If I had to built 10, $350.

Note 1: I will require an bcr2000. It would be best if you send me one. Here, in Brazil, it costs US$300. There it should cost half of that price.
Note 2: The plugin will be something transparent, intended to be put over an 15 inch lcd screen. This screen should be one of the monitors within the computer that runs cubase/nuendo.

And please bear in mind that the touch screen software will be included with the package, even if you don´t use it. To use this, you will need a second computer.

At this moment, this will work only with cubase and probably nuendo.
However, I think it would not be difficult to port it to another daw platform. Again, it depends on how many people will need it.

Please let me know who is interested, and also keep in mind that I am opened to suggestions.

After all, you´ll be my first customers...

Hi Paulo,

That is a very reasonable price. You may want to consider finding a music store in the US or Europe that will ship the BCR2000 internationally so that you can just obtain them all in one order instead of having to rely upon people shipping something to you. An idea to consider...

I'm not quite sure I understand the bit about the 15" LCD monitor. Is that something that we as users must have? And then what you ship us gets installed over that? Like an overlay? Can you explain further?

Another suggestion is that you may want to make this available to folks over at Groupdiy.com and other forums too. Then you may be able to increase the quantities substantially, and thus lower the prices a little bit, and of course make a lot more money for all your hard work.

thanks,
Brad

Man, that´s my dream also.
Perhaps if this thing sells...

We work with 60-80 tracks per song here. Even with a 16 channel "window" always in sync, even within a touch of any track, we sometimes keep searching were the hell that track is...

Now, if I had something like 80 or 96 faders over an huge lcd screen...
a group of say, 12 encoders for each channel

The hardware to control that is not so expensive. Each encoder for example sells for around US$1. One of the things that crossed my mind is to use old us2400 from tascam. Imagine 4 of that; and one lcd screen in front of each of them loaded with encoders and buttons. It will be a hell of a 96 channel controller.

hmmm...

I´m drooling again :-)

Here we have an 60% tax over any electronic product. For example: at ebay, right now there´s a bcr2000 for $129 new. The shipping of that will be sometyhing around $60 (or more). The sum is: $129 + 60 = $189 * 1.6 = $302.4.

Yes, yes, yes the 60% tax is made INCLUDING the shipping.

Yes, yes, yes, I want to kill all the politicians, but the waiting line for the people who want to do that has too many people also :-)

Here I use an 3rd 15 inch monitor (I use and usb-to vga adapter). The glass with the encoders is attached directly at the monitor. I am planning to build an aluminum or wooden case with the glass inside. That will protect the glass and make things more robust; And it wil become easy to attach it to a lcd monitor. It would work exactly as an overlay. The "bottom" of the encoders stays almost touching the lcd monitor, so that the glass "floats" over the lcd screen at a (more or less) 1 centimeter distance.

You can count me for the plugin controller if its ported for Mac/Logic. Sometimes I really wish I´d stuck with PC/Cubase lol.
Amazing development Paolo, get some Investor in your boat and produce those units on your own. High potential there!
Wish you the best with your products.

Very cool! Kudos to you for acknowledging that the in the way we work... we need the actual controls LABELED... not a map on screen of what controls are with the actual controls miles away (as the eye views things).

The plug-in controller is definitely really amazing. Get a patent for sure....

Seems to be a great solution, I guess you do it once per plugin and don't have to worry about it ever again?
