| No way is it print through. It's too loud and the delay is too long. They would have been running the tape at 1 ips. It's a clever idea, who knows how they thought of it.

. This got me back to listening to some of the old Alman Bros. stuff, and it turns out that it was Jessica that had that 'tape-speed thang' on the acoustic intro. (Memory fart.) ...Upon listening again to Sweet Melissa, I think what we're hearing is an edit between two different takes of the intro, each of which had slightly different tempos/phrasings. Hmmm... . . .

Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up from the album Heartbreaker. Just after the 4 minute mark after the harmonica solo, the drummer hit the kick late on one of the little staccato parts. Blatantly obvious, but the song sounds so great. I'm in love with the drum sound on that song; and really, the whole album.

Hmm"-12ax7 That makes more sense, as the guitarists in that band have great rhythm! ![]() Only other thing could be a magic live take where everything was so good that they just left the one odd moment- but it seems more likely someone in the booth had something to do with it. Hey, I enjoy it but I've always wondered about how it came about... Last edited by bigfurry; 3rd November 2010 at 12:50 AM.. Reason: Darn auto spell... |

| I seriously cannot believe that I've never noticed that. I can't listen to it now without almost holding my breath waiting for the slide to come in.

I was listening to Van Halen III today, on the song "once" you can hear a metronome or some kind of tempo click during the intro while the keyboards are playing.

The biggest mistake I hear on some big hits is the fact that someone pushed the record button.

Dude! What about the track on Exile where you can hear bacon frying in the adjacent kitchen? I think it's one of the slow blues, anyone remember?
