Thread Starter | Audio Technica repair
Has anybody ever sent a mic to Audio Technica to be repaired? I tried to call them but apparently they don't answer the phone or call you back. I've got a 4050 I'm trying to get repaired, but can't really find any information on cost, etc. If you get an estimate, they'll charge you $30.00 plus return shipping if you don't get if fixed. I just don't want to end up spending a lot to get it fixed. Any comments appreciated. |

Have you ever dealt with CTG? Call them and see if they could help you out. I use them for service on almost all of my equipment (but I havent brought a mic to them yet though). If not, maybe they could recommend a local service shop for you.

Audio Technica is located in Ohio. The number I reached the at was 330 686-2600 Their address is 1221 Commerce Dr., Stow, Ohio 44244. I sent a 4033 out for repair and I believe the cost to check the mic out was $30.00. Parts and labor came to $78.00, this included the $30.00 bench fee, plus shipping. They provided quick turn around time and were very helpful. I thought the price was totally reasonable.

Thanks! I think I'm just going to send it. If it's around $100 it will be worth it.

I'm responding about 2.5 years after the OP. However, before I sent in my AT4050 for repair, this was the only forum I found that provided a repair price. So I want to update those who might need AT service. It cost me $242 for AT to replace a bad element in the 4050. It took the tech 30 minutes to replace it ($80/hr x .5), $180 for the element, $22 shipping, and about a week transit from AT to me. Hence, it depends on the task-at-hand as to the repair cost. The ATUS service form tells you nothing, only that you submit the mic for a $30 estimate and agree to have that applied to the repair or lose it and pay return shipping. That would be $52 just for the estimate (excluding $12 to ship it to AT via USPS). In essence, AT is not cheap (depending on mic and severity of repair). There is a 90 day service repair warranty. |

I recently asked for a repair estimate from Audio Technica on inexpensive dynamic mike, ATM29HE, that had a bad element. Not a great mic, kinda a SM57 competitor, that originally sold for around $80. The quote I got over the telephone was something like $49 plus shipping. So, Audio Technica seems to adjust the price somewhat in relationship to the cost of the mic. (However, at that repair price I can buy a used working ATM29HE on ebay). Quote:
