TERRIBLE NEWS and I am grieving mightily.

If there is a Heaven perhaps Buddy Rich is there to greet him.

What a huge huge loss.

Louie was a member of the church that I play organ/piano for (Emmanuel Baptist Church, San Jose CA). He played "When the Saints go Marching In" every year for the last 3 years at Easter! Most of us here were not aware how close to death he actually was.

Tragic loss to the music industry; he will be missed.

Truly sad news. I remember very well one of his many instructional videos. He will be missed.

I saw Louie play when I was a kid...what a great drummer and great guy. He hung out in the lobby of the venue for over an hour taking photos, signing autographs, giving away drumsticks, and just chatting it up. A real class act.

RIP

I dated his daugther Dee Dee a couple of times in the 90's. We went to NAMM together where she introduced me to her father. Very gracious and not half as intimidating as he could have been . As nice of a guy as he was a talented drummer. Was an honor to meet him.

I was saddened when I read that Louie Bellson passed away. I never met him or even saw him live, but every time I read an interview with him he came across to me as a genuinely nice man. Rest in peace Mr Bellson.
