Green Day "American Idiot" Guitar Tone

Hey guys,

Just curious, does anyone happen to know how to nail or come close to that Green Day Guitar Tone? I must say, I dig it. Alot.

Crate half stack, and a Boss metal zone pedal................................j/k.

I believe a les paul through a marshall will get you there.

Great, I use a Les Paul into a Marshall Hardwired Plexi so that should get me close?

Any specific Micing Techniques?

A mahogany guitar with p-90's is essential to that tone. Also, I guess they have a layer of acoustic in there to add to the rythmic flow of the guitars.

dial the volume back on both pick ups to mimic a closer sound to P-90's
and use an overdrive/distortion pedal to dial in the gain and help
smooth out 'nasty' marshall mids
S/.
