MCI JH-416 Restauration

Hi list

I bought an MCI JH-416 witch i am gonna restore.
Can anyone get me information on what voltage should come out of the powersupply's?
I am gonna recap this one first and a little info would be apreciated.

I wanna recap the input modules and i wanna know if i should use the same values.
I heard that replacing the caps with bigger values would improve them.

Some channels do miss some off the Rogan Corp knobs and does anyone know a source to get them in small amounts?

Stock power supplies should be +/- 24vdc.

I would go with 50 volt caps.

You could go larger on the capacitance if you wanted, say maybe 220uf instead of 100uf, but I would be careful going any larger than that due to the inrush current.

I replaced mine with Nichicon 100uf and have no issues with low or high end. Recapping improved the sound quite significantly.

Try a module or two and see what you think.

Can't help you on the knobs.

Do you have the manual set?
It is IMPERATIVE that you have them.

You just can't work on those consoles (or any console) without them.

recap and get the power supplies 100%

Double values is a good benchmark for caps. Then recap master section, then do 2 input channels.

You absolutely need MANUALS for this... I've got a nice big 20" scanner, if someone sent me 400manual set, I'd pdf it!!!!

I got no manuals ynfortunely.
If someone could help me out i'd be happy to pay for a copy off them.
This is what i heard about the caps on the input modules

15x 100uf 25 volt change into 220uf
2x 250uf 35 volt change into 470uf

I think i.m gonna ask Rogan corp if i can order 500 knobs with a selection in variation.

I was gonna start my own thread but perhaps I'll just join in on this one with you (or at least read along anyway). I just bought a 416b myself. Is your's the a or b version?

Yes, if someone did this, I would greatly appreciate it. I need the manuals and schematics so that I can get started working on my console.

as far as I know mono-poly dont have extender cards
or extender cabels and that is important in fixing that babies...

I checked pictures monopoly personally sended me
and I would take care of PSU first, than recap all with double values as I told him...next step would be cleaning faders

Short-Form Cleaning Instructions For Penny Giles Faders
PuG

next step would be to get big spray of teslanol T6
Teslanol T 6 - OSZILLIN Kontakt- und Tunerspray

absolute must have with old desk and equipment.. that can save old shadow push switches ant they actually suck...and are very problematic...

and finlaly I would replace that 4 block caps in filter section for WIMA MKS 4 type blocks same value

thats is what I would do just based on pictures and my jh500 expiriences...( I fully saved moded recaped and restaurated 3 big MCI desks till now!!!)

I did pay 800 euro and i had to plan a 2 day trip to pick it up.
So in the end it did cost me aprox 1000 euro.
But stuff is looking better and better.

I am cleaning stuff up now and gonna do the psu first and recap the modules.
But it is kinda hard to get a manual somehow.

i have 2 mci jh-416:B psu for sale, i guess they work in any JH-400 series.
any offers?
shipping is verry heavy
from south america.

someone could buy 2/4 channel strips only, and use the PSUs.
those are verry high quality regulated -1% and with 0.005% ripple, bi polar +-21 , +-24v , specs dont show +48v, but there is +48v "phantom" somewhere in the pins.

If anybody makes copies of that 400 manual on eBay, watermark them, so at least when that bastard that sells the schematic DVD's on ebay steals it, you'll know it was your copy he stole.....

Really, it burns me up that people try and share info and someone goes and makes money off it.

I'm in. I'd love to get all the knobs on my 416 to be the same... Many of the older plastic ones have cracked and broken off. None of the replacements match.

What I REALLY want is an extender board.

Of course, now one of you NEW 416 owners is probably gonna scoop it from me. Oh well. Maybe we can share????

All knobs are done by Rogan Corp
And the minimum order is 500 knobs.
If we can find a few people we can perhaps order some models.
I can use some knobs in quantity of 100 pcs.
