ATH-M50 problem.

Hey all,

I just picked up a pair of ATH-M50's last night and was really impressed by the warmth of the headphones. Everything has been going well until i plugged in tonight and while soloing tracks their was a very subtle yet noticeable high pitch noise corresponding with every drum hit etc. I'm wondering if this is a defect or if i could have damaged the speakers after like a day of use. I was only peaking for a little bit yesterday, and i listened to my ipod pretty loud, but would that really damage the headphone driver.

Please any help or counsel on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

carefully check back what it is. maybe that sound is in the sample already?
when its not, then the m50 is defect, of course.
or when the high pitched winy noise is still there when you put the headphones off then its you new tinnitus from too loud listening...

You could try running a very slow sine wave sweep through the phones (at various volumes) and see if you hear any distortion popping out.
