Microphone Splitters

I want to buy a microphone splitter , I may decide to buy a rack with 4. My question is there a huge difference in the sound between the different brands. Right now I don't want to put my entire bank account in buying one, what are the pros and cons of the cheap and expensive ?

I just bought a Radial JS3. It has a Jensen transformer in it. Great build quality, and keeps your signals sounding top notch.
