Emu 0404 - cheap!

The cheapest cards i could find were EMU 0404 has the dsp aswel, and EMU 1010 pci express which have adat input,

I use the Presonus firestudio project into my EMU 1212m card, works a treat no probs

It's not just the interface, it's the software (drivers) the interface uses. Just pick up a used RME 9652 (the newer version with 2 midi I/O, NOT the "DIGI" version) for $300 and you will have 24 channels I/O with rock solid drivers that can do low latency at FULL load. In addition if you ever go the Hybrid large frame console route you can add more 9652's without problems. The only limit with this setup is sample rate of 44.1k or 48k to use all channels (limits of using ADAT lightpipe). If you are only going to max out at 8 channels I/O then looking at a firewire converter - interface in one box option makes sense.

once again: any cheapest ADAT input to MAC?

Worked with PC/NUENDO/RME9652/RMEADI8-PRO. Now go to iMAC + ADI8-PRO. And what? I own to buy full blown interface with ADAT input?

Ha tobto... I had a similar setup and wish there was an affordable solution rather then selling off my ADI-8 DS and buying a new interface... somehow I bet after all the effort I'd spend more and get less.

They didn't. I heard the same stories, but got a new one off the importer two months ago. It's also still listed on their site with no indication of it being end of life.

If you're considering the Presonus Firestudio LightPipe, keep into mind that its syncing options are limited. It will only sync to an external clock @44.1KHz and 88.2KHz, not at 48KHz or 96KHz. I would've preferred clocking the whole setup against my Rosetta 800, but no go (since I sometimes have to deal with 48KHz projects). This is a known issue that Presonus say they will not fix.

A lot of people are suggesting stuff, but I can't see where the OP mentioned what great pre's he has with ADAT out.

I'd suggest selling them and upgrading to newer audio I/O that will have better A/D converters, etc. and be a one step solution vs. an expensive solution for a problem few have.

Although, unless we know what the OP has, hard to suggest.
