Is this a possible solution to avoiding latency using outboard with Pro Tools LE

I have a 002r and a bunch of outboard gear, and dealing with the latency almost makes it almost not worth it, it is a huge pain in the a** nudging tracks.

I was thinking of getting an 8 channel A/D so I could use 12 inputs (5-8 of 002R, 9-16 A/D converter) and 12 outputs (5-8 002R, 9-16 A/D converter). So, if I get a patchbay set up, I can use my outboard for recording, and later the outputs/inputs for mixing.

So, let says I've got the mix where I want it and I use plug ins, outboard gear, will I experience latency when I bounce down? Will I even hear the outboard stuff if I mix down?

It seems, in my head, that this would work, but I might be wrong.

you're not making it very clear about how you intend to connect everything.

If you're talking about using outboard gear as "hardware inserts" within PT, then yes you'll be subject to latency.

If that's not what you're talking about....then please explain!

Yes, hardware inserts.

Usually what I do is mix my drums, bounce the tracks with the EQ or compression, and nudge them over. I was wondering if I had enough outboard gear and enough inputs/outputs to where I didn't need bounce section, just the finished mix, would that avoid the latency?
