"London Town". McCartney breathes melodies - or maybe he used to - but the vocals on this track are pretty great, too, and the mix is interesting. An undeservedly dismissed period for him, I sometimes think.

It probably is true... but once I heard a very cruel DJ play this song and then play what the Rolling Stones were doing concurrently, which was "Miss You." OUCH!

Check out his latest Fireman project. The Stones are miles behind - so are many others for that matter. Remeniscent of the London Town period... |

Best compare the Stones with Lennon rather than McCartney ... FWIW - London Town was a very influential album for me, and I regard it very highly. It's only frivolous pop, but I like it. "London Town" (Paul McCartney/Denny Laine) – 4:10 "Cafe On The Left Bank" – 3:25 "I'm Carrying" – 2:44 "Backwards Traveller" – 1:09 "Cuff Link" – 1:59 "Children Children" (Paul McCartney/Denny Laine) – 2:22 Lead vocal by co-writer Denny Laine "Girlfriend" – 4:39 Written with Michael Jackson in mind. Jackson then covered "Girlfriend" on his 1979 album Off the Wall "I've Had Enough" – 3:02 "With a Little Luck" – 5:45 "Famous Groupies" – 3:36 "Deliver Your Children" (Paul McCartney/Denny Laine) – 4:17 Lead vocal by co-writer Denny Laine "Name And Address" – 3:07 "Don't Let It Bring You Down" (Paul McCartney/Denny Laine) – 4:34 "Morse Moose And The Grey Goose" (Paul McCartney/Denny Laine) – 6:25 Classic stuff. Denny Laine got some amazing guitar tones. And a lot of this album was literally tracked at sea ... |

I sometimes DJ 'I've Had Enough' which is another under-rated track off London Town, With A Little Luck is good too.

Wow, this thread actually makes me miss that album! I got it for my birthday in my teens and played the heck out of it...
