Butch Walker

Anyone ever worked with him? Experiences? Favourite gear? Guy seems to have everything down pretty perfectly to how he wants it in a climate where he really shouldn't!

I love the drum sounds and 1176 type compression he has on vocals lately. I'd make a guess and say it's a lot of analog, but he seems to be pretty PT oriented too.

Spill!

Just what he's like as a producer in general man!

Interesting that he's doing a heavier album like that album though. Should be killer.

I was assistant engineer for a few days on a couple of projects he was producing a few years back. He is probably the most down to earth producer/rockstar I've ever been around. Knows what he wants, knows how to get there, and at the same time is lots of fun to be around.thumbsup

One my main producers I work with worked with Butch / M3 awhile back. Jim loves the 1176 - tagged with a Distressor before or after - as well as judicious DCL-200's on everything. I love working with that guy.

I've never worked with him, but Butch is also one of my favorite producers, love almost everything he's done since M3...and he's an amazing live perfomer. He used to have a site for his studio when it was in Atlanta but since he moved back to LA, the site hasn't been up.

There is this mixonline blurb about it though:

Butch Walker Opens Ruby Red

if anyone else has any info i'd also love to get it...

Awesome. Keep it coming!

I just finished watching his new DVD, it's pretty amazing. Seems to just be one of those hidden gems in the music world.

Butch is an awesome. He is the most underrated producer and songwriter, and he's the greatest performer today. Yeah, I just said that.

His studio burnt down along with his house in the 2008 Malibu fires. He lost everything including the masters to every song he had ever recorded. It could be since then that he built a new studio, or he's just been using commercial rooms in LA or ATL. Dunno.

Wish he'd come perform in Tokyo some time soon though.
