D&R Airmate (broadcast console)

airmate

Might this be a good solution for tracking and summing? I heard that broadcast consoles sound great and have nice pres. But I didn't find any info about the Airmate on GS.

Any opinions?

I can't say I've ever tried recording through one, although I have heard the Sonifex S2 modular mixer and it's got a really nice sound. It has simultaneous AES/EBU digital and analogue I/O. Digital audio is supported up to 24-bit/96kHz has 100mm long throw faders (can be upgraded to P&Gs), PFL/cue, fader-start operation of equipment, automatic monitor muting on mic-live, light switching remote outputs, optional EQ on input modules, gram amp input options and 2 main audio buses. It looks to me like you buy the channel strips that suit you best and Sonifex bolt them into a nice analogue-looking chassis for you!

I have an Airmate. Been using it every day for about 8 months now.
You can find a brochure on it here and another one here. You can also find more in-depth info around somewhere. I have a pdf on my other computer, if you want I can try to dig it out and send it to you.
I recently plugged my mics into my E-mu 1820m because I wanted to record the voice before it went to the mixer, and I found the 1820m was nicer. Now my problem is I want to route the signal to the desk via the XLR inputs, but I am a bit worried I might fry the soundcard...

Anyway, if you want to know anything about the D&R just ask and I will try to tell you.
